Karczmiska Commune is situated on the borderland of the Belzyce Plain and the Chodel Valley, along the route from Pulawy to Annopol. It is 54 km from Karczmiska to Lublin, 14km to Kazimierz Dolny, 21km to Naleczow, 25km to Pulawy.

It is typical agricultural commune with 1342 farms.Out of the total area of 9521 hectares there are 6764 hectares of arable land and 2076 hectares of woods.Several rivers flow through its territory: the Chodelanka river, the Kowalanka river, the Karczmianka river.

Naleczow Narrow-Gauged Railway

Karczmiska railway station , a central station oł the Naleczow Narrow-Gauged Railway, provides communication with Naleczow, Opole Lubelskie, Poniatowa and Wilkow.
The Kazimierz Landscape Park and a part of the Chodel Area of Protected Landscape are situated there. Karczmiska is proud of having a seven hundred year-old-oak tree (a Monument of Nature) wchich is oldest growing oak tree in Poland, after the famous "Bartek" oak tree have died.

History

Karczmiska Parish was founded in 1443. In the 19th century Karczmiska village and grange belonged to the Czartoryskis' estate. After the November Uprising they were confiscated by the Tsar's Govermment and sold. In the second half of the nineteenth century the peasans were fighting for ther land and easements.

In 1861 citizens of Karczmiska refused to perform their services and in 1903 they protested against school contributions.
